GWPCA Nationals 2024, Hastings, MI
Biggest annual fundraiser for Rescue
The German Wirehaired Pointer Club Nationals are coming up soon in Hastings, Michigan and, rather than report on them afterward, this is an opportunity to showcase some of the exciting offerings we will have available for purchase to support the rescue.
As most of you are aware, every year we place more dogs into foster and forever homes. Not only do the number of dogs that come into rescue increase significantly every year, we provide more complicated and costly training and veterinary care than we have in the past. The proceeds from the raffles and auctions at the national event, generous donations, and grants continue to support our efforts to help as many dogs in need as we can. Our ability to continue doing valuable work depends on proceeds from the national fundraiser.
In addition to some amazing donations from individuals and companies, board members collect items throughout the year to sell. The theme this year will be “Christmas in October.” Be ready to stock up for the holiday.
Last year we were able to offer items for sale online for those who were unable to attend in person. We will be doing the same this year. Many of these items are one-of-a-kind and specifically German wirehair-related that you will not see anywhere else. But this year we also have some new, large items up for grabs
LARGE ITEMS AVAILABLE
Apart from the Ruff Land™ crate, a $50 gift certificate for Ruff Land™ will be available.
Along with the agility equipment and the large crate, we also will have a very nice duck blind as an offering.
For those of you who love dog accoutrements, don’t despair. There will be plenty of wonderful baskets at our raffle with items that vary in value.
DON’T MISS OUT ON THIS ANNUAL EVENT
Remember, even if you are not attending the nationals, many items will be available for online bidding!!!
Wired for Action and Wired for Pheasant

Thank you all for anything you donate for these beautiful creatures.
NEWT
BLOG DOG IN DESPERATE NEED OF A FOSTER
Meet the sweet Sooner, Newt, who was living happily in Oklahoma, when his owner died. He is currently living in Yantis, Texas with a friend of the owner but desperately needs a foster. Newt is nine years old and intact, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and heartworm negative. He was tested by the trainer with multiple dogs and he showed no signs of aggression so he should be fine with a dog of similar size. But he is not a fan of cats, so should not be in a home with cats or small dogs. He is good on a leash and hunts. The person currently housing him is suffering from medical issues and must find another place for him or will need to place him at a shelter.
Please call or text Suzann 860–921–7827 or simply fill out a foster or adoption application at nationalgwprescue.com
About Us
National GWP Rescue is a nationwide rescue program whose volunteers work tirelessly to provide funding, foster homes, medical care and training for GWPs found in shelters, animal control facilities and to those GWPs whose current owners are unable to provide a suitable situation.
Working hand- in-hand with governmental and local shelters, NGWPR provides a safe and responsible home for GWP’s in need. Placed with an experienced GWPCA member, fostered GWPs that have been neglected, untrained or have medical issues quickly blossom as they are readied for their “forever” homes.
Prior to releasing our rescued GWPs for adoption, volunteers provide obedience, manners, and house training. We hold to the philosophy that a mannerly dog has a better chance of fitting into a new household.
NGWPR believes that Wires were designed to hunt and unlike some other rescue programs, we are happy to place dogs with field experience or bird instinct with potential owners who enjoy hunting behind a Wire. However, NGWPR insists that any rescue dog first be a house dog and companion, then a weekend hunting partner.
